Date: October 2, 2018
In October 2017, the #MeToo movement was born on social media to demonstrate the widespread prevalence of sexual assault and harassment, especially in the workplace. The movement went viral, with millions of women coming forward with their own stories of abuse. While allegations against high-profile celebrities such as Harvey Weinstein, Louis C.K. and Bill Cosby may dominate headlines, #MeToo has moved millions of women to collectively say “Time’s Up”.
The increased awareness of sexual assault and harassment is certainly something to celebrate, however it should also indicate to many employers that workplace practices also need to evolve with the times. This presentation will focus on the legal and practical implications of #MeToo.
In this presentation by KEL Lawyer David Brown, you will learn about:
- Bullying and harassment in the workplace;
- Discrimination on the basis of gender;
- Constructive dismissal;
- Damages for non-compliance;
- Best practices in promoting a workplace a harassment free workplace
