Fiona Anderson

Lawyer

Fiona doesn’t miss a thing.  Highly perceptive and deeply curious, she is peerless when it comes to zeroing in on the essence of a complicated issue while still observing its nuances. Her nearly 20 years of legal practice includes working with two of Canada’s best-known law firms, Torys LLP and Blakes, and high-pressure litigation experience as a prosecutor for the BC Securities Commission.

An expert in business and mathematics, Fiona has an MA in Economics from Johns Hopkins University as well as a journalism certificate which she completed in 2005.  Combining her unique knowledge and experience with an ability to learn – fast! – she quickly moved up the media ranks over the past decade, progressing in short order from business reporter with the Vancouver Sun to its business editor, and then to  Editor-in Chief of the Business in Vancouver (BIV) Media Group, where she oversaw the production of the BIV newspaper, a dozen different magazines and BIV’s online products.

Fiona’s professional background has resulted in unparalleled communication skills and an exceptional understanding of the issues that matter to BC’s businesses. Clear, attentive and accessible, she is an ideal adviser for employers and employees operating on Vancouver Island and throughout the province.

Disciplined and dedicated beyond mere career pursuits, Fiona is also an accomplished athlete. Her most recent sporting endeavor was a 4500 km self-supported cycle tour through the Southern United States which she completed, with her husband, in May 2022.
