With over 20 years as a litigator, Doug has enjoyed a diverse legal experience that he brings to bear into his employment practice. He has appeared in both the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia, and before various boards and tribunals. He has acted in matters relating to all manner of civil and family litigation including employment law, personal injury, construction, estates, and commercial and contractual disputes. Despite his litigation-focused background, Doug takes pride in providing practical advice and finding solutions for clients without involving the Courts, but at the same time is equipped to step into a courtroom should the needs of his clients call for it.
Throughout his lifetime, Doug has lived in all corners of British Columbia from tiny towns to the biggest cities. He’s worked in a broad array of jobs on farms, in construction, in retail, in a steelyard and in a papermill, long before he turned to more office-based pursuits. His work and life experience has given him an appreciation of the varied and changing needs of employers and employees across the province. Doug recognizes that each client is unique, requiring advice and strategies that suit their situations. It is through this wide lens that he identifies issues and provides tailored guidance to his clients.
Outside the office, Doug is a dedicated husband and father who appreciates relaxation and a slower pace. He is a food enthusiast and avid follower of the Lower Mainland’s craft beer industry. He can be found in sunny weather wandering around a golf course, which he does for the camaraderie and exercise, and not because of any real skill or ability at it.
