Michael is a straight-shooter. Known for his no-nonsense, get-the-job-done approach, he is particularly skilled at focusing on the issues that matter amidst the unnecessary “noise” that can come with legal disputes.
After nearly 20 years of legal practice that have included work on complicated high-conflict cases and disputes involving multiple parties and jurisdictions, nothing fazes Michael. Confident and reliable, his ability to assess the possible legal and business outcomes of every case appeals both to clients in conflict and to those seeking to avoid potential workplace problems.
In addition to his superior legal skills, Michael also brings a unique cultural perspective to his work. Early in his legal career, he responded to the needs of our Northern neighbours and moved to Nunavut where he hung a shingle and helped launch the Territory’s inaugural Canadian Bar Association Branch. Five years later, he expanded his practice to include clients in the Northwest Territories. Now located in Victoria, BC, he continues to serve clients across Northern Canada, maintaining his practice credentials in multiple provinces.
Michael’s other unique offering is his extensive experience conducting union arbitrations. Having recently obtained formal certification as a Qualified Arbitrator, he looks forward to sharing his expertise with unions and employers across Vancouver Island. In his off-hours, Michael will continue to stay fit by chasing either his dog, Clover, or opponents on the rugby pitch (where he recently played for the Canada Classics against the US!).
